May 2020 - Tomoko recently became the first woman of color to ever music coordinate a Broadway musical, and the first woman to music coordinate a Pulitzer-winning musical. (A Strange Loop). 

Born in Tokyo, Tomoko started her career as a musician at age twenty, and has since performed and interpreted for internationally renowned artists such as Alan Silvestri, Andrea Bocelli, Alicia Keys, Coldplay, The Verve and more. Her performing experience includes studio recordings and TV soundtracks as well as acting as concert master for the Broadway musical, Amazing Grace and Tokyo productions of Broadway musicals, Spring Awakening and West Side Story.

 

Tomoko has coordinated and interpreted for musical productions in the United States, Japan, Germany, Australia, Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. These productions encompass a variety of musical styles, including classical, film, theater, jazz and video game music. She has worked with orchestras such as the Tokyo Philharmonic and the Czech Philharmonic, and on orchestral recording sessions for video game titles such as "Resident Evil 6/Biohazard 6" (CAPCOM) and "Binary Domain" (SEGA). She has also interpreted for six-time Emmy Award winning composer and conductor, Mark Watters, for "Star Wars in Concert," and for Grammy-winning jazz artist, Maria Schneider, at the Tokyo Blue Note.

 

Using management skills obtained from her extensive musical experience, provides coordination and management/producing services to American artists and companies for their dealings with Japan, and vice versa. Tomoko aspires to connect the Japanese and American cultures to one another. She is the founder and director of  Tokyo Strings Workshop, a source for Japanese strings players to learn to play in contemporary American styles like jazz and bluegrass.

東京出身。歴史上初めてのピューリッツァー受賞ミュージカルの女性コーディネーターとなる。これまでにヨーロッパやアメリカをはじめとする各国のオーケストラやプロダクションのコーディネートを行い、ニューヨークのミュージカル界で最初の有色人種、移民の女性コーディネーターとして認められる。
ヴァイオリニストとしては松田聖子、桑田桂祐、久石譲、アラン・シルヴェストリとの共演歴を持ち、現在拠点をおいているNYではブロードウェイミュージカルのコンサートマスターやジャズの弦楽アンサンブルを中心に演奏活動を続けている。
有色人種女性がアメリカで働く機会と環境づくりのプログラムやアメリカやヨーロッパのアーティストを日本に招聘するワークショップやコンサートなどを自主プロデュースし、日本と欧米の架け橋となるプロジェクトに力を注いでいる。
